Breast Implant Revision for Edmond Patients

If you live in Edmond and need a breast implant revision, our Oklahoma City practice is about 7 miles away. Here is what the process looks like — from the first consult to the weeks after surgery.

Why revision is its own specialty

Revision surgery replaces, corrects, or removes breast implants. The reasons vary: a size change, a firm scar shell called capsular contracture, a leak, implant position problems, or simply being done with implants altogether. Each situation calls for a different plan.

Revision is harder than a first breast augmentation. Scar tissue, thinner tissue, and an existing pocket all constrain what the surgeon can do. It deserves a surgeon who does this work routinely — and an honest conversation about what is achievable. The exam and your written quote come first, always.

Plans range widely: exchange, capsule release or removal, pocket repair, lift-with-exchange, or removal without replacement. That range is exactly why a thorough in-person evaluation matters before any commitment is made.

The drive from Edmond

Oklahoma Surgical Arts sits about 7 miles from Edmond — a straight, familiar drive into Oklahoma City. Consults can be virtual or in person, so you can start the conversation from home if that is easier. Surgery takes place in our AAAHC-accredited surgery center, which includes a private overnight guest suite.

Every surgeon on the program's roster serves Oklahoma City patients. Dr. Angelo Cuzalina founded the practice and directs its AACS-accredited fellowship. His published focus areas include complex revision surgery. Dr. Carisa Champion, Dr. Chase Nelson, and Dr. Trent Fogleman also operate here through the week.

What happens in the operating room

You receive anesthesia — medicine that makes you sleep. The surgeon usually re-opens the original scar, most often in the fold under the breast. The old implant comes out. Scar-shell tissue is released or removed as your plan requires. The pocket is repaired or reshaped when implants have shifted.

A new implant is placed — or the pocket is closed if you are done with implants, sometimes with a lift. The incisions are closed in layers with dissolving stitches. Most patients go home the same day.

Because revision starts from an uneven baseline, the two breasts are never a perfect match. Your surgeon will walk through realistic expectations during the consult so there are no surprises.

Recovery, honestly

The first few days are usually easier than your first surgery — soreness, tightness, back-sleeping. Most desk workers return around one week. No lifting over ten pounds during that stretch. By two weeks, soreness fades and light lower-body exercise is usually fine.

Full exercise, including chest work, typically resumes around six weeks. New implants settle over months. The final shape declares itself as swelling clears and tissue relaxes. Patience matters here — the result at three months looks different from the result at three weeks.

In any emergency — chest pain, shortness of breath, fainting, sudden leg swelling — call 911 first. For concerns like unusual swelling or tightness in one breast, call 405-751-0042 day or night. Being close in Edmond means follow-up visits are a short trip.

The risks, in plain words

Every surgery has risks, and revision carries a few that are specific. The problem that brought you in — capsular contracture, for example — can recur. Nipple sensation may change: decrease, increase, or go away. Thinner tissue after prior surgery can show rippling more easily. An implant can leak or break over time.

Bleeding, infection, scarring, blood clots, and anesthesia complications are possible, though rare in healthy patients. And revision patients know one risk best: the need for yet another surgery down the road. We go over every risk with you in person before any decision is made.

Start with a consult

If you are in Edmond and considering breast implant revision, the next step is a consultation — virtual or in person. The surgeon examines you, listens to what you want changed, and explains what is realistic. You receive a written quote before anything is scheduled. Call 405-751-0042 or book online to get started.

Is breast implant revision harder than the first surgery?

What does recovery look like after revision?
Most desk workers return around one week. Light lower-body exercise is usually fine by two weeks. Full exercise, including chest work, resumes around six weeks. New implants settle over months as swelling clears and tissue relaxes.
