Breast Augmentation in Oklahoma City, Answered by the Surgeon

Breast augmentation is this practice's flagship procedure. Here is what we want you to know before your consultation in Oklahoma City.

By the surgical team of Oklahoma Surgical Arts ·

What breast augmentation actually is

Breast augmentation adds size and shape to the breasts with implants. An implant is a soft shell filled with salt water or silicone gel. The implant sits behind the breast tissue or behind the chest muscle. You and your surgeon choose the size and placement together at your visit.

Implants do not last a lifetime. Plan on more surgery someday. That is not a failure of the procedure — it is the nature of the device. We say this early because it matters to every decision that follows.

Surgery takes about an hour. You go home the same day. The surgeon makes a short incision, most often in the fold under the breast, creates a pocket, places the implant, checks its position, and closes in layers with dissolving stitches.

Why Oklahoma City, and how the practice works

Oklahoma Surgical Arts operates two operating rooms in Oklahoma City at 12400 Saint Andrew's Drive. The surgeons of the Tulsa Surgical Arts program — the same fellowship-trained team, the same standards — perform breast augmentation here in OKC or in Tulsa. You choose the city.

Consultations are virtual or in person. Edmond is about seven miles from the practice. Whether you drive from across the metro or across the state, the consult is the same unhurried conversation: your frame, your goals, the implant that fits both.

The facility is AAAHC-accredited. Free on-site parking. After anesthesia, a responsible adult drives you home and stays with you for the first twenty-four hours — no rideshare alone, no exceptions.

The honest risk list

Every surgery has risks. A firm scar shell can form around the implant — called capsular contracture — changing the shape and sometimes causing pain. An implant can leak or break over time; broken implants are replaced or removed. Nipple sensation can change. Breastfeeding may be affected for some women.

A very rare cancer of the scar tissue around certain implants has been reported. Some patients report body-wide symptoms they link to implants. Removing implants is always an option. Bleeding, infection, uneven results, and the possible need for revision surgery are real possibilities we review with you in person.

In any emergency — chest pain, shortness of breath, sudden leg swelling, or bleeding that does not slow with gentle pressure — call 911 first. For non-emergency concerns after surgery, call 405-751-0042 day or night.

Recovery, honestly

The first few days bring chest tightness and soreness, like a hard workout. Walk the same day. Sleep on your back. Most people with desk jobs return to work at about one week. No lifting over the limit your surgeon sets during that stretch.

By two weeks, soreness fades and light lower-body exercise is usually fine. At six weeks, full exercise — including chest workouts — is typically cleared. Implants soften and settle over months. The final shape is not the shape you see on day one.

When any instruction in this article differs from what your surgical team tells you directly, their instructions win. Recovery is individual, and your surgeon adjusts the timeline to your body and your procedure.

Sizing, and why the consult matters

Breast augmentation is sized to your frame, decided with you. There is no standard implant and no catalog you order from online. The consultation is where your surgeon measures your chest wall, discusses your goals, and walks you through the options — saline or silicone gel, above or below the muscle, volume in cubic centimeters rather than cup sizes.

Our patient gallery shows real breast augmentation results from the program. Individual results vary. Looking through those images before your visit helps you communicate what you like and what you do not. That conversation is the foundation of a good outcome.
