Breast Augmentation in Oklahoma City: What to Know
Breast augmentation is this practice's flagship procedure. Here is what the surgery involves, how recovery works, and what to think about before your consultation in Oklahoma City.

What breast augmentation actually does
Breast augmentation adds size and shape to the breasts with implants. An implant is a soft shell filled with salt water or silicone gel. The implant sits behind the breast tissue or behind the chest muscle. You and your surgeon choose the size and placement together at your visit — sized to your frame, decided with you.
Implants do not last a lifetime. Plan on more surgery someday. That is not a failure of the procedure. It is the nature of an implanted device. Your surgeon will explain the expected timeline and what follow-up looks like over the years ahead.
The surgeons of the Tulsa Surgical Arts program perform breast augmentation in Oklahoma City, with two operating rooms here and the option of surgery in OKC or Tulsa — your choice of city. Consultations are available virtual or in person.
What happens in the operating room
You receive anesthesia — medicine that makes you sleep. The surgeon makes a short incision, most often in the fold under the breast. A pocket is created behind the breast tissue or behind the muscle. The implant is placed into that pocket and checked for position. The incision is closed in layers with dissolving stitches.
Surgery takes about an hour. You go home the same day. A responsible adult drives you home and stays with you for the first twenty-four hours — after anesthesia you may not drive yourself, take a rideshare alone, or leave unaccompanied. The practice is located at 12400 Saint Andrew's Dr, Oklahoma City, with free on-site parking and direct drop-off at the entrance.
Recovery, honestly
The first few days bring chest tightness and soreness, like a hard workout. Walk the same day. Sleep on your back. By one week, most people with desk jobs return to work. No lifting beyond the limit your surgeon sets during that stretch.
By two weeks, soreness fades and light lower-body exercise is usually fine. At six weeks, full exercise — including chest workouts — is typically cleared. Implants soften and settle over months. The community of Edmond, about seven miles from the practice, and the broader Oklahoma City area are well served by this location for follow-up visits during that recovery arc.
In any emergency — chest pain, shortness of breath, fainting, sudden confusion, or a leg that swells or hurts more than the other — call 911 first. For concerns that are not emergencies, call 405-751-0042 day or night.
The risks, in plain words
Every surgery has risks. A firm scar shell can form around the implant — called capsular contracture — which can change shape and cause discomfort. Surgery can fix it. An implant can leak or break over time; broken implants are replaced or removed. Nipple sensation can change. Breastfeeding may be affected for some women.
A very rare cancer of the scar tissue around some implants has been reported. Some patients report body-wide symptoms they link to implants. Removing implants is always an option. Other risks include bleeding, infection, visible scars, numb skin near the incisions, blood clots, anesthesia complications, uneven results, and the possible need for another surgery to fix a problem or improve the result.
We go over every one of these risks with you in person before surgery. No question is too small. Consult a qualified surgeon to understand how these risks apply to your specific anatomy and health.
