Breast Augmentation for Edmond Patients: Drive, Consult, Aftercare

Edmond is about 11 miles from our Oklahoma City office — a short drive to a practice where breast augmentation is the flagship procedure. Here is what the process looks like, start to finish.

The drive from Edmond

Our office sits at 12400 Saint Andrew's Dr, Oklahoma City, OK 73120. Edmond is about 11 miles away in a straight line — drive time will depend on your route and traffic, but it is a familiar drive for most Edmond residents heading into the city. The proximity matters because breast augmentation requires multiple visits: the initial consultation, the surgery itself, and several follow-up appointments during recovery.

Consultations are available in person at the Oklahoma City office or virtual from anywhere in Oklahoma. Surgery, when you are ready, happens in Oklahoma City or Tulsa — your choice of city. The six cosmetic surgeons of the Tulsa Surgical Arts roster all serve Oklahoma City, and Dr. Trent Fogleman practices here full-time.

What breast augmentation actually is

Breast augmentation adds size and shape to the breasts with implants. An implant is a soft shell filled with salt water or silicone gel. It sits behind the breast tissue or behind the chest muscle. You and your surgeon choose the size and placement together at your visit. The implant is sized to your frame — your anatomy, your proportions, your goals.

Surgery takes about an hour. You receive anesthesia, the surgeon makes a short incision most often in the fold under the breast, places the implant into a carefully created pocket, checks position, and closes in layers with dissolving stitches. You go home the same day. Implants do not last a lifetime. Plan on additional surgery someday — that is an honest part of the decision.

Our surgery center is AAAHC-accredited and includes a private overnight guest suite. These details matter. Accreditation means the facility meets national safety standards for outpatient surgery, and the guest suite is there if your surgeon recommends a monitored overnight stay.

The consultation: one conversation, zero pressure

Every plan starts the same way. You meet the surgeon. You are examined. You describe what bothers you in your own words. You leave with a written plan and a written, all-in number — surgeon fee, anesthesia, accredited facility, follow-up. Both are yours to keep. Decide on your own time. Photos of results you like are welcome. Bring a list of medications and supplements, your surgical and medical history, and your questions written down.

The exam is where anatomy decides what will actually work. Skin quality, tissue volume, and chest-wall proportions all shape the recommendation. Sometimes the right answer is the procedure you came in for. Sometimes it is a smaller one, or none yet. You will hear it straight. Ask for a specific surgeon when you book, or tell us your goals and we will match you.

Recovery, honestly

The first few days bring chest tightness and soreness — patients describe it like a hard workout. Walk the same day. Sleep on your back. By one week, most people with desk jobs return to work. No lifting over a limit your surgeon sets. By two weeks, soreness fades and light lower-body exercise is usually fine. At six weeks, full exercise including chest workouts is typically cleared. Implants soften and settle over months.

Being about 11 miles away in Edmond means follow-up visits are straightforward. That proximity is genuinely useful during the early recovery weeks when your surgeon wants to see you and confirm everything is healing as expected.

Risks you should read before your consult

Every surgery has risks. A firm scar shell can form around the implant — called capsular contracture — which can change shape and cause discomfort. An implant can leak or break over time and would need replacement or removal. Nipple sensation can change. Breastfeeding may be affected for some women. Bleeding, infection, scarring, and uneven results are all possible. A very rare cancer of the scar tissue around some implants has been reported. Some patients report body-wide symptoms they link to implants. Removing implants is always an option.

In any emergency — chest pain, shortness of breath, fainting, sudden leg swelling, or bleeding that does not slow with gentle pressure — call 911 first. For non-emergency concerns after surgery, call 405-751-0042 day or night. We go over every risk with you in person before you make any decision.
