Mommy Makeover for Mustang Patients: Drive, Consult, Aftercare

Mustang is about 16 miles from our Oklahoma City practice — a straightforward drive to a consultation, surgery, and every follow-up visit. Here is how a mommy makeover works and what Mustang patients should know before booking.

By the surgical team of Oklahoma Surgical Arts ·

What a mommy makeover actually is

A mommy makeover combines breast and belly surgery in one operation. Most often that means a tummy tuck with a breast lift, augmentation, or reduction, and liposuction where it helps. One anesthesia, one recovery. The combination is different for every body — your surgeon examines you, listens to what bothers you, and builds one plan. It is never a package off a shelf.

Combining procedures shares anesthesia and facility time, which is why a mommy makeover is planned and priced as one operation with one written number. You leave your consultation with that number and a written plan, both yours to keep. There is no pressure in the room and none after you leave it.

The drive from Mustang to our Oklahoma City office

Our practice is located at 12400 Saint Andrew's Drive, Oklahoma City, OK 73120. Mustang sits about 16 miles away in a straight line — drive time will depend on your route and traffic, but it is a manageable trip for consultations, surgery day, and the follow-up visits that matter most in the first two weeks. Parking is free and on-site.

On surgery day, your driver pulls directly to the entrance for drop-off and pick-up. The team confirms your specific arrival time for your case. Consultations are available in person at the Oklahoma City office or virtual from anywhere, so you can have your first conversation without leaving home if you prefer.

What happens in the operating room

You receive anesthesia once for the combined plan. Breast work comes first in most plans — lift, implants, or reduction as decided with you. The tummy tuck follows: muscles are repaired, extra skin is removed, and the belly button is re-set. Liposuction sculpts the waist or flanks where the plan calls for it. Everything is closed in layers, and garments and dressings go on before you wake.

Combined surgery takes several hours. Some patients stay one night. Our surgery center is AAAHC-accredited and includes a private overnight guest suite, so you and your caregiver are steps from the surgical team if anything is needed.

Recovery, honestly

The first few days are the hardest. You walk bent, rest propped up, and let your helper help. Walk a little every few hours. By one week, drains — if used — usually come out, and standing straightens day by day. Many desk workers return around two weeks. No lifting over ten pounds during that window, and that includes toddlers.

Full exercise restarts around six weeks, including core and chest work. Swelling clears in stages over months; breasts settle and scars begin to fade. Living about 16 miles away in Mustang means follow-up visits are a short drive, which matters most in those early weeks when your surgeon wants to see you regularly.

Every surgery has risks. Combined body surgery means longer anesthesia time, and plans are limited to what is safe in one day. Blood clots, fluid buildup, slow wound healing, changes in skin sensation, bleeding, infection, uneven results, and the possible need for another surgery are all real risks. Your surgeon reviews the full list for your exact plan in person.

When to call — and when to call 911

In any emergency, call 911 first. That includes chest pain or pressure, shortness of breath, fainting, sudden confusion, weakness on one side of the body, a leg that swells or a calf that hurts more than the other, or bleeding that soaks a bandage and does not slow with gentle pressure. Do not drive yourself. Do not wait.

Otherwise call 405-751-0042, day or night, if one breast or one side of your belly becomes much more swollen, tight, or painful than the other; if you have a fever of 101.5°F or higher; if redness spreads from any incision or you see pus; or if you feel short of breath at rest — and for that last one, call 911 first, always.
