Traveling to Oklahoma City for Surgery: A Plan for Portland, OR

Portland, OR is about 1,475 miles from our Oklahoma City practice — a flight or a long drive. Patients make that trip regularly, and the planning is simpler than most people expect.

Why patients travel from Portland to Oklahoma City

Cosmetic surgery is elective. You choose the surgeon, the facility, and the city. Some patients find the right match close to home. Others look further — across state lines, across the country. The decision usually comes down to a specific surgeon's experience with a specific procedure, or the standards of the facility where the surgery will be performed.

Oklahoma Surgical Arts operates out of an AAAHC-accredited surgery center in Oklahoma City with two operating rooms. Dr. Angelo Cuzalina founded the practice and directs its AACS-accredited fellowship. His published case volume exceeds 18,000 procedures, with particular focus on rhinoplasty, deep plane facelift, complex revision surgery, and total-body contouring. The six cosmetic surgeons of the Tulsa Surgical Arts roster all serve Oklahoma City patients, and Dr. Trent Fogleman practices here full-time.

Our full menu includes breast augmentation, tummy tuck, liposuction, breast lift, eyelid surgery, rhinoplasty, mommy makeover, gynecomastia surgery, and facial surgery. You choose your surgeon and your city — surgery happens in Oklahoma City or Tulsa.

The consultation starts the plan

Every plan here begins the same way, whether you live seven miles away or fourteen hundred. You meet the surgeon. You are examined. You describe what bothers you in your own words. You leave with a written plan and a written, all-in number — both yours to keep, to decide on your own time. There is no pressure in the room and none after you leave it.

For Portland patients, virtual consultations let you have a thorough initial conversation without booking a flight first. When surgery is scheduled, a single in-person pre-operative visit confirms the plan. Ask for a specific surgeon when you book, or share your goals and the team will match you.

Consultations are available in person at the Oklahoma City office or virtual from anywhere. That first conversation costs you nothing but time and honesty about your goals.

Getting here and knowing what to bring

The practice is located at 12400 Saint Andrew's Dr, Oklahoma City, OK 73120. Parking is free and on-site. On surgery day, your driver pulls directly to the entrance for drop-off and pick-up. The team confirms your arrival time for your specific case — not a general clinic opening.

Bring photo ID, your completed paperwork, a written list of every medication and supplement you take, glasses and a case (no contact lenses), phone and charger. Wear loose, front-opening clothing and slip-on shoes. No makeup, lotion, deodorant, or fragrance on surgery day. Leave jewelry, piercings, and valuables at home.

After anesthesia you may not drive yourself, take a rideshare alone, or leave unaccompanied. A responsible adult drives you and stays with you for the first 24 hours. If you are traveling from Portland, plan for that companion to be with you throughout your recovery stay in Oklahoma City.

Surgery day and recovery

You arrive at the time confirmed by the surgical team. Check-in, pre-operative preparation, and a final review with your surgeon and anesthesia provider happen before you go back. You wake in recovery under one-to-one observation, then discharge home with your driver and your written instructions.

Your surgeon's team will tell you when it is safe to fly home to Portland. Follow-up appointments can often be managed virtually, though some procedures require an in-person post-operative visit. When any instruction from your surgical team differs from general guidance you have read, their instructions win.

If you prefer surgery in Tulsa instead of Oklahoma City, the Tulsa flagship has a private overnight guest suite. Your consult, records, and photography follow you between cities. The standards are the same either way.

Planning your trip from Portland

Portland is about 1,475 miles from the practice — a flight rather than a casual drive. Most traveling patients schedule their virtual consultation first, then plan one trip for the pre-operative visit and surgery, staying through early recovery before heading home.

The practice's Patient Resource Center publishes everything you need in one place: forms, directions, what to bring, and what to watch for while you heal. The phone number is 405-751-0042. Call with questions at any stage — before you book, after you book, and after you are home.
